"Java" is an instrumental adaptation from a 1958 LP of piano compositions, The Wild Sounds of New Orleans, by New Orleans producer/songwriter Allen Toussaint. In 1963, trumpet player Al Hirt recorded the instrumental, and the track was the first single from his album Honey in the Horn. It was Hirt's first and biggest hit on the US pop charts. I recorded the song in 1966 on my first record album on the Hammond Organ, "Make it with Mike". At that time my Hammond B-3 was equipped with a Hammond SoloVox unit which made great baritone sax sounds. My Hammond Grandee has these very same sounds, and so I recreated my 1966 sounds today. I hope you enjoy this fine old New Orleans tune on my organ. "Life is Good" when you can bring back old songs like the friends that they really are. 😀🎹
